The 34th Nakamurabashi Awa Odori folk dance was held on September 6, 2009 from 5 pm to 8:30 pm near Nakamurabashi Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line in Nerima Ward, Tokyo, Japan. A total of 12 awa odori troupes participated. I photographed all the groups, with emphasis on Narimasu Child-ren (成増チルド連) and Okame-ren (女華夢連). Also see my YouTube video here.

The 33rd Nakamurabashi Awa Odori festival was held on Sept. 7, 2008. The rain did not stop the dance festival nor dampen the enthusiasm of the dancers and spectators. The dance parade was held along the Santsu Nakamurabashi shopping street that intersects with Nakamurabashi Station. Nakamurabashi is a short train ride from Ikebukuro Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line. Also see my YouTube video here.

Kitamachi is a small neighborhood near Tobu-Nerima Station on the Tobu Tojo Line coming from Ikebukuro Station. The Kitamachi Awa Odori is one of many Awa Odori dances held in the Tokyo area. Twenty-seven dance teams participated on July 26, 2008 when these are pictures were taken. It was the 16th Kitamachi Awa Odori held during 6 pm to 8:30 pm. Also see my YouTube video here.

Features a large pond with rowboats and swan boats for rent. Cherry trees are everywhere, but not clustered together. Near Shakujii-Koen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line.
