Sugatani Onsen Spa offers natural hot spring waters in indoor and outdoor baths and accomodations. First opened in 1971, this is the only hot spring facility in Sugatani.

Sugatani hot spring is famous for being a favorite of Ichi, the sister of feudal lord Oda Nobunaga and wife of Lord Azai Nagamasa in the 16th century. She lived in nearby Odani Castle.

Ticket machine to enter the bath. Only 1,000 yen for a hot spring bath. 500 yen for kids older than age 1. Towels can be rented for 200 yen. Give your ticket to the front desk clerk.

Two indoor baths. In the forefront is a lukewarm bath which feels good after you soak in the hotter bath.

The other indoor bath is very brown due to the iron content. The glass door goes to the outdoor bath. On the right side of this photo are sit-down showers where you can soap.

The water temperature is just right. Not too hot at all.

The outdoor bath is at the foot of a hill. You can gaze at the green trees and sky while bathing.
