Huge park in western Tokyo with wide-open spaces, pond with pedal boats, a variety of flowers including cherry blossoms in March-April, poppies in late April-May, a Japanese garden, cycling paths, and museum. Used to be part of Tachikawa Air Force Base. Park established in 1975 to commemorate Emperor Showa's 50th year of his reign.
