One thing unusual about this festival is that they carry the mikoshi with their hands and arms only, and not on their shoulders.

They run while pulling the danjiri floats while a man on the float's roof dances and prances with two fans. They pass by very quickly, unlike other float festivals. This is in front of Kishiwada Station.

Most pf the danjiri festival girls had braided scalps, sometimes in a flowery pattern..

In memory of this haristyle, a group of beauticians and hairdressers in Shimada hold this annual festival where they don the Shimada-ryu hairstyle (usually with their real hair) and dance in yukata.
sh307-20100919_3991.jpg
As you can see, there are variations in the hairstyle and adornments of Shimada-ryu.
sh316-20100919_3951.jpg
I had never seen so many women wearing Shimada-ryu with their real hair, so I was very impressed.
