The museum has both outdoor and indoor exhibits of civilian and military airplanes, prototypes, replicas, and scale models (especially rockets). Opened in March 1996 near Japan Air Self-Defense Force Gifu Airbase. (The airbase cannot be seen from the museum.) It's in a park-like area with a large hangar-type building filled with planes. The museum's nickname is "Sorahaku" (空宙博).
