Kichijoji is popular for shopping and eateries near JR Kichijoji Station on the Chuo Line. Also near to Inokashira Park (which is actually in neighboring Mitaka).

The 36th Kichijoji Autumn Festival (Aki Matsuri) was held on Sept. 13-14, 2008 by Musashino Hachimangu Shrine. Ten mikoshi portable shrines were paraded around the streets of Kichijoji on both days. On the second day, all the mikoshi gathered in front of Kichijoji Station at 3 pm. At 4:30 pm, a parade went through the Sunroad shopping arcade. Kichijoji's biggest event of the year.
