One of Tokyo's major parks noted for cherry blossoms. A nice respite from the hustle and bustle of Kichijoji's shopping district nearby. Although this park is near Kichijoji Station which is in Musashino city, the park is actually within Mitaka city.

The ICU Mitaka campus has a straight, wide road lined with cherry trees. I'll never forget how spectacular it was when I first saw them in full bloom. A cherry blossom tunnel.

On Aug. 22-23, 2009, the 42nd Mitaka Awa Odori dance was held near JR Mitaka Station's south side. The dance is held annually on the third weekend of Aug. Thirty awa odori troupes participated along the shopping street. The quality of the dance troupes are excellent. Also see my YouTube video here.
