Kiyose is noted for a few areas where these woodland flowers (called katakuri in Japanese or Erythronium japonicum) grow in early spring (late March). While they are in bloom usually the last week of March, they hold the Katakuri Matsuri festival where they have maps and human guides to show you where the flowers are.
