Cape Chikyu (also spelled Chikiu) is on the southernmost tip of Muroran on Etomo Peninsula, making it a popular spot to see the sunrise especially on New Year's Day. It overlooks the deep blue Pacific Ocean.

Mt. Sokuryo (elevation 199.6 m) is another scenic point on Etomo Peninsula with panoramic views. "Sokuryo" means "measurement" because it was used as a base point in surveying the distance between Muroran and Sapporo in 1872.
