NORFOLK, Va. (Feb. 7, 2008) A USS George Washington (CVN 73) Sailor waves goodbye to his family on the pier as the aircraft carrier departs Naval Station Norfolk. George Washington departed Norfolk en route to Yokosuka, Japan, where it will replace USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) as the U.S. Navy's only forward-deployed aircraft carrier.
