The Kinki region (近畿地方, Kinki-chihō) is roughly in the middle of Japan's main island, Honshu. It refers to the prefectures of Nara, Wakayama, Mie, Kyoto, Osaka, Hyogo, and Shiga.
Kinki more commonly refers to mainly Nara, Wakayama, Mie, and Shiga. While the Kansai region commonly refers to Kyoto, Osaka, and Hyogo Prefectures in contrast to the Kanto region of Tokyo and surrounding prefectures.
