Happy spring! Feb. 3 is Setsubun, which celebrates the coming of spring (even though it’s still freezing here). Every year, I visit a different shrine to watch them throw fuku-mame lucky beans. This year it was Kanda Myojin near Ochanomizu in Tokyo. I always manage to catch some beans, but this year it was too hard for me. Toward the end though, this bag of beans hit me when I wasn’t even looking. Even when I don’t go looking for good fortune, it always seems to find me anyway. Wishing everyone good fortune this year.
