Yokozuna Akebono Retirement Ceremony: Demonstrations
After Akebono’s dohyo-iri, they filled the time with a hairdressing demo and sumo jinku.
A sumo hairdresser demonstrated how the topknot is made. By coincidence, lending his hair is Asashoryu, a Mongolian who later became the second foreign yokozuna.
They are singing sumo jinku (相撲甚句), a chant-like song about sumo and sumo wrestlers. They are singing about Akebono.
