Tohoku
The Tōhoku region (東北; Tōhoku-chihō) is a geographical area in northeastern Japan on the largest island of Honshu. Tōhoku means "northeast." The area is also known as Michinoku (みちのく).
The region consists of six prefectures: Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi and Yamagata. Like Hokkaido, Tohoku has a colder climate than the rest of Japan. The Tohoku shinkansen bullet train makes it easy to reach the Tohoku region.
