YOSHIDA Ruiko 吉田 ルイ子 (1938.7.10- ) Hokkaido. Freelance woman photojournalist.

Major themes Her work centers on the daily lives and feelings of people. Recent works include photos taken in South Africa.

Education Graduated Keio Univ. Law Dept. in 1959. Went to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship in 1961. Graduated Columbia Univ. School of Journalism graduate school in 1964.

Career Worked for NHK International Bureau and later for Asahi Broadcasting Company as an announcer.

Worked for J. Walter Thompson ad agency in New York in 1967.

Traveled widely, to North America, Central America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. Returned to Japan in 1970 and became a freelance photojournalist. Directed the film "Long Run" by Toho Eiga Co. (2000.12.14)
