YAMAGISHI Shoji 山岸章二 (1930-1979.07.20) Editor of the now-defunct Camera Mainichi monthly magazine from 1970 to 1979.

Influenced many pro photographers by critiqueing their work and giving advice. Promoted creative images.

Also introduced New York photographers like Diane Arbus and Robert Frank through the magazine. Spoke English and served his American contacts for information on Japanese photography. Committed suicide by hanging himself in his office.
