UENO Shunnojo 上野 俊之丞 (1790-1851) Nagasaki. Merchant who imported the first (a Daguerreotype) camera into Japan (via Dejima, a small island off Nagasaki) in 1848 and presented it to Lord Shimazu Nariakira of Satsuma.

Although Ueno had brought a daguerreotype to Nagasaki 1843, it was not unloaded. Father of UENO Hikoma. (2000.12.15)
