In Shiga Prefecture, Shin-kaisoku (新快速) is a JR (Japan Railways) train that stops only at the major JR train stations. It does not stop at the smaller train stations. When riding the Biwako Line between Nagahama and Kyoto or beyond, most people ride Shin-kaisoku trains.

However, if you want to get off at a train station where the Shin-kaisoku train does not stop, you will need to ride or transfer to a Futsu train which stops at every station on the train line.

On the Biwako Line, the Shin-kaisoku train does not stop at the following train stations: Zeze
