NARUI Raisuke 成井 頼佐 (1858-1902) Osaka. Leading, Kyoto-based portrait photographer in the late 19th century who photographed many geisha and kabuki actors.

Son of a portrait photographer in Osaka who was a former samurai. The studio burned down in 1871. Son Raisule learned the trade from the father (died in 1870s) and set up shop in Kyoto in 1879.

His portrait studio was located in the geisha districts of Miyagawa-cho and later in Gion and Yasaka Jinja. (2002.12.22)
