The Chubu (中部地方 Chūbu-chihō) region is the central part of Honshu, Japan's largest island. Chubu means "center part" in Japanese.

Nine prefectures are in the Chubu region: Aichi, Fukui, Gifu, Ishikawa, Nagano, Niigata, Shizuoka, Toyama, and Yamanashi. It centers on Aichi (Nagoya), Gifu, and Nagano.

This region also has subregions: The Tokai region is Shizuoka and Aichi Prefectures.

The Hokuriku region faces the Sea of Japan with Fukui, Ishikawa, Toyama, and Niigata Prefectures.

The Kōshin'etsu (甲信越) consists of Yamanashi, Nagano and Niigata Prefectures. It is the abbreviation of the old provinces, of Kai, Shinano and Echigo provinces.
