The Bunkyo Tsutsuji Matsuri or Azalea Festival is held from April to early May at Nezu Shrine which has a slope filled with 50 varieties of azaleas.

Azaleas also bloom around the same time as wisteria at Kameido Tenjin Shrine. Both flowers symbolize Golden Week which is a string of holidays in late April and early May, serving as spring vacation for many workers.

Sarue Onshi Park has azalea, sakura cherry blossoms, and autumn leaves. Near Sumiyoshi Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line subway and Kinshicho Station.

The koinobori are strung from late March to mid-May. Especially spectacular when the cherries are in bloom during late March to mid-April.

In April and May, thousands of flying carp streamers grace the Tsuruudogawa River connected to Lake Jonuma.
