Arabian Gulf (Feb. 28, 2003) -- An EA-6B “Prowler” (left) and an F/A-18C “Hornet” (right) are raised to the flight deck on one of four aircraft elevators aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63). Kitty Hawk and Carrier Air Wing Five (CVW-5) are conducting missions in support of Operation Southern Watch. Approaching 42 years of distinguished service, Kitty Hawk is America’s oldest active commissioned vessel and is the Navy’s only permanently forward-deployed aircraft carrier operating from Yokosuka, Japan.
