Komaru bailey is said to be where Azai Hisamasa (the second lord of Odani Castle and father of Nagamasa) retired and resided. However, under siege by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Hisamasa is said to have committed seppuku here on Aug. 27, 1573 at age 49.
