MIYAZAKI Manabu 宮崎 学 (1949-) Nakagawa Village, Nagano Pref. Wildlife and nature photographer.

After working for a precision instrument company, turned freelance photographer in 1972. Self-taught photographer.

Recent themes include "Nature and Man" showing dams and other signs of man's encroachment in natural environments. Another was a series of photos titled "Death" of a decaying carcass of an animal (returning to nature) during successive seasons from fall to spring.

His study of owls won him the Domon Ken Award in 1990.

Awards: Newcomer's Award, The Photographic Society of Japan, 1982; Domon Ken Award, 1990; Award of the Year, The Photographic Society of Japan, 1995; Kodansha Publication Culture Award, 1995.
