MIDORIKAWA Yoichi 緑川 洋一 (1915.3.4-2001.11.14) Okumachi, Okayama Pref. Landscape photographer in Okayama, facing the Seto Inland Sea. Photographing the Seto Inland Sea was his life work.

Education Graduated from Nihon Univ., Tokyo 1936 in dentistry.

Career Self-taught photographer. Dental surgeon at his own clinic in Okayama City and photographer since 1936. Founding member of Ginryu-sha Photo Club (銀龍社)together with AKIYAMA Shotaro and UEDA Shoji in 1947.

Landscape photographer based in Okayama, facing the Seto Inland Sea. Photographing the Seto Inland Sea was his life work. Often used multiple exposures and other techniques to obtain unique colors. The Midorikawa Yoichi Photography Museum in Okayama is dedicated to him. (2002.01.12)

Awards Nikakai Award 1953 and Prime Minister's Prize 1973, Nikakai Photographic Competition; First Prize, Camera Geijutsu Photographic Competition 1960; Society of Photography Critics Prize 1962; Award of the Year, Photographic Society of Japan 1963.
