Belonging to the Zen Rinzai Sect, Sorinji temple is noted for its Japanese garden called Ryushintei in the back of the temple. I rented a bicycle from a hotel in front of Ube-Shinkawa Station and rode to the temple.

I had a map in hand, but had a little difficulty finding the temple until and rode through a few roads and came across the temple in a quiet neighborhood.

Ryushintei Garden is Yamaguchi Prefecture's oldest Japanese garden. A mountain ridge and pond are used as part of the garden. Only two Japanese gardens in Japan are like this.

It seems we can view the garden only from the temple balcony without actually walking through the garden.
