About Japan Blog

“There are no foreign lands. It is the traveler only who is foreign.” – Robert Louis Stevenson

Japan Blog is where I write my thoughts and impressions of Japan. I’m someone who has been living and working in Japan for a long time and who can speak, read, and write (with a computer) Japanese quite fluently. I frequently travel around Japan and take pictures and videos clips. I’m a pure Japanese-American originally from Hawai’i. More about me here.

Thus, my blog posts center on traveling and living in Japan, interesting photos, Hawai’i and Japan, Japan and America, the Japanese language, Japanese culture, and more.

This blog fills the gap between my big online photo gallery (PHOTOGUIDE.JP/pix/) of tens of thousands of photos and my Japan Articles collection (PHOTOGUIDE.JP/txt/) of full-length articles.

This is where I show only one or a handful of images in one post or write shorter articles and commentaries. I neglected this blog for a few years from 2007 to 2010 due to a cumbersome blogging system, but revamped and resurrected it in June 2010 with a new blogging system. The old blog posts have since migrated to this new blog, but all the links have changed. Use the Search box to find what you’re looking for. I hope to write more often from now on.

I also maintain two other blogs:
